The news of the buy button being launched by Google is
taking rounds on the web. This update was first released by Wall Street Journal
quoting anonymous sources and now can be seen flashing on numerous news
websites. According to this update, the search engine is soon coming up with
buy buttons for the pages containing products available for online purchase. By
clicking on these buttons, the buyers will be taken to the Google product page,
where the purchase could be performed.
However, the news hasn't yet been confirmed by the search
engine. But, it is being presumed that the shift that users are making to the
mobile devices is a major reason for Google’s buy button initiative. For the
online shoppers using mobile devices for search and purchases, the quick buy
button would be an easier way to make a purchase. The products here will be
sold by the retailers and not directly by Google. Now, this move could be seen
as a threat for the other online retailers.
These buttons are said to be available only for the sponsored
search results and not the other search results processed for a query by search
engine. This update, if proves to be factual would be a great step by the
search engine to expand its services beyond the information it delivers to the
users.
However, such call to action buttons are also being used by Facebook and
Amazon. Amazon Dash and Facebook’s Shop Now serves the users with an
opportunity to make a direct purchase.
Reportedly Google aims to seeking to brand the pages, where
the users will make the purchase. The search engine will then get you
recommendations from the same retailer.
Now, this move doesn't seem to be a threat for the
retailers, who are already advertising with Google. However, this may affect
the number of purchases that are being processed through their mobile apps as
the Google buy button may come up as an alternative to these apps.
